THE FIRST GENERAL CHAPTER OF THE CONGREGATION OF MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA, FATHERS AND BROTHERS (CMT).

THEME: God has begun a great Work (Phil 1:6).

In thanksgiving to God Almighty, the Congregation of Mother Teresa of Calcutta concludes her first General Chapter. The Chapter was convoked by our principal Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Hilary Nanman Dachelem, CMF. The Catholic bishop of Bauchi Diocese.

The chapter was declared open through the celebration of the Holy Mass by the bishop after which he handed the Chapter to the Facilitator; Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Gregory Ezeokeke, CMF. Present in the chapter was The Father Founder, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Ekendu Onyeocha; the Vicar General of Bauchi Diocese; Very Rev. Fr. Raphael Agbata, the Canonist, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Douglas A.E Gaiya and the CMT priests.

In the course of the Chapter, the Constitutions were reviewed and major concerns were also raised and discussed; such as the charism, apostolate and the government of the congregation. There was also an election of the Superior General and the Council.

Here are the newly elected members of the governing council of our congregation;

Rev. Fr. Pev Gabriel, CMT - Prefect of Formation

Rev. Fr. Igiri John, CMT - Prefect of Spirituality

Rev. Fr. Nicholas Alutu, CMT - Econome (Bursar).

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Superior General Rev. Fr. Meltus Godfrey, CMT and his council. Your election is a clear testimony of the trust and confidence the Congregation has placed in your leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the mission of Christ and the growth of our congregation.

As you assume these important responsibilities, we pray that the Lord will grant you abundant grace, wisdom, strength, and humility to guide the Congregation with zeal and fidelity. May the Holy Spirit continually inspire your decisions and actions as you serve in building a vibrant spiritual and formative life for all members.

Be assured of our prayers and fraternal support as you carry out this noble task entrusted to you.

We extend our profound gratitude to the president of the chapter and our Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Hilary Dachelem CMF for his fatherly love; and to our dear Founder Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Onyeocha who is the first recipient of our charism, for allowing God to use you in this manner .

Thank you also to the facilitators of our Chapter, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Greg Ezeokeke, CMF and also our observers Rev. Fr. Dr. Douglas Gaiya who happens to be the Canonist and Very Rev. Fr. Raphael Agbata, the Vicar General of Bauchi Diocese.
